The Pacific Avenue Tree Planting Project

Trees bring many benefits to neighborhoods, and the City of Los Angeles is doing what it can to plant new trees throughout the city. As a part of that effort, the Central and Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Councils are partnering to make Pacific Avenue a greener place this year. Our Pacific Avenue Tree Planting Project is supported by the Chamber of Commerce, the Pacific Corridor Redevelopment Community Advisory Committee, and many of your neighbors. We have the professional and expert assistance of TreePeople (a nonprofit environmental organization) and $70,000 worth of grant funding and in-kind donations of materials, supplies and labor to use this year to plant trees along Pacific Avenue.
Why would you want a tree in front of your business property?
· Trees make a business district more appealing. Shoppers find shaded sidewalks more attractive and comfortable.
· Trees reduce the temperature of the immediate vicinity and improve air quality.
· Trees raise property values.
We will make sure that the right tree is planted in the right place. TreePeople's expertise helps us avoid past problems such as excessive tree litter, view blocking, and sidewalk damage due to roots. TreePeople also assists the community in creating a collaborative long-term tree care program so that our trees will survive and thrive.
